13 Sep WomenFIRST

WomenFIRST is focused on creating a culture for women’s philanthropy and making positive changes in the lives of women and families in our community. Born from the “Chics for Charity” platform, Women FIRST members gather multiple times per year for educational and networking events. Each event supports the mission of The Foundation, allowing Women FIRST to make a real and sustainable impact on health care at Thomas Health.

March 8, 2017, Charleston Marriott Town Center: Be Bold for Change

Guest Speaker: Kathi Rhea-Richards, Epiphany Consulting

The initial event to kick-off the WomenFIRST platform in supporting the Foundation for Thomas Health, celebrating International Women’s Day. Be Bold for Change was an opportunity to support the women that are served by Thomas Health. The evening was a great success for The Foundation as we were able to raise awareness for the programs WomenFIRST plans to support this year.

May 11, 2017, Astorg Auto of Charleston: Rock Your Little Black Dress

Tiffany Hess, Thomas Health NICU Grateful Patient

The Foundation for Thomas Health’s mission is raising funds to financially assist the efforts of Thomas Health to further improve the health, education and well-being of the citizens residing in our service area. The Thomas Health NICU was in need of (5) five reclining rocker chairs ($1,125 each).

The Foundation’s WomenFIRST Little Black Dress proceeds will be helping pay for these chairs. Every 25 minutes a baby is born suffering from opiate withdrawal, making the need for these rocking recliners greater than ever.

November 30, 2017, Holiday Inn & Suites – South Charleston: Holiday Boutique

Guest Speaker: Linda Arnold, M.A., MBA, Live Life Fully

Donor and community support of The Foundation’s WomenFIRST platform in 2017 made a difference in the life of each baby, family, nurse and volunteer at Thomas Memorial Hospital NICU. With funds raised through WomenFIRST “Be Bold for Change”, “Rock Your Little Black Dress” and “Holiday Boutique”, over $6,000 dollars were raised to purchase the 5 Hospital Grade Reclining Rocking Chairs.
